about
'Chère Patrie', Kind Regards new single, takes up David's composition, which was already published in the multi-award-winning documentary film 'Neuland' (director: Anna Thommen) in 2013. The lyrics are inspired by the touching poems of the young Afghan migrant and 'Neuland' protagonist Hamidullah Hashimi. They capture the essence of his moving experiences and feelings while fleeing to a new home in Europe.
The warm acoustic mood with soft cello sounds, longing vocal melodies and warm slide guitars over a driving beat and the expressive French lyrics encourage us to reflect on our ambivalence towards home in the mirror of the homelessness of an uprooted refugee. And leave room for new interpretations of where home could be found - in security, in being uplifted, in belonging and identity.
lyrics
Chère Patrie,
Toi, qui soutient mon regard
à nouveau au bord des larmes
Relève-moi
Patrie relève-toi
Découvres mon visage de ce masque noir
Chère Kaboul,
De ma patrie l'omoplate,
je plie sous ton poids
Relève-moi
Kaboul, relève-toi
Qu'à nouveau se déploient les tulipes éternelles
